Leadership Development


IDC Academy is an intensive discipleship training initiative that develops men and women of IDC as Christ-followers, disciple-makers, leaders, and teachers in the local church. This cohort of committed men and women will dig more deeply into discipleship topics such as Abiding in Christ, Growing in Christlikeness, Loving God Together as His Church, Loving One Another, Loving Our Neighbors, and Making Disciples. It meets on select Sunday evenings from 4-5:15 pm from August-May. If you are interested in participating, fill out this brief IDC Academy Application or contact shane@idcraleigh.com.


Aspire is IDC’s pastoral ministry training cohort for men who desire to be pastors and church planters. It is a 1-year (Jan–Dec) program that is broken into 4 courses: Pastoral Ministry, Ecclesiology and Administration, Missional Leadership, and Christ-Centered Preaching. Course credit is available through SEBTS, if desired. Meetings are on Mondays from 6-9 pm. Priority will be given to IDC members who have a track record of service and character. We ask anyone who desires to go as a missionary through Imago Dei Church to participate in our Going training. Going is a six-month training cohort that seeks to equip IDC covenant members for faithful and fruitful ministry in cross-cultural missionary contexts. Any member desiring to be sent as a missionary with IDC as their sending church is expected to complete this training as part of the overall sending process. The IDC Internship is a year-long program that trains men and women for future ministry by providing hands-on experience, leadership development, and mentored discipleship. All interns will receive training in personal spiritual growth, disciple-making, and ministry leadership. This is a part-time (20 hrs/wk) self-funded or support-raised staff position that will run from August-July. Applications for the Internship are due by January 15. Church Planting Residency

The IDC Church Planting Residency is a year-long program that trains men to serve as church-planting pastors by providing hands-on experience, leadership development, and mentored discipleship. The residency will generally run from August 1st through July 31st. Residents will spend a minimum of 8 hrs/wk in the IDC offices throughout the week and will devote a minimum of 20 hrs/wk in total preparing to plant. Residents will need to provide their own funding (through other part-time or full-time work) or raise their own support through Reliant, which provides fundraising training, coaching, and HR management.
